Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios cereal
- 3/4 cup (190 g) creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup (170 g) honey
- 2 tbsp (28 g) unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/4 cup (45 g) roasted peanuts, roughly chopped (optional)
Instructions
Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment.
Place Honey Nut Cheerios in a large bowl.
Combine peanut butter, honey, and butter in a saucepan.
Heat over LOW heat, stirring continuously, just until smooth, fluid, and completely combined. Do not aggressively boil.
Remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla and salt.
Pour warm mixture over cereal.
Fold until cereal is evenly coated.
Fold in chopped peanuts if using.
Transfer to prepared pan.
Press firmly enough for the bars to hold together, but do not pulverize the cereal. Unlike marshmallow bars, these need somewhat firmer compression to create structural integrity.
Allow to cool and set approximately 1 hour. If the room is very warm, refrigerate briefly to finish setting.
60 minLift from pan.
Cut into 16 bars.
